Restaurant 1869
About This Spot
Stepping into Restaurant 1869 in the heart of L'Escala feels like finding a quiet corner where Mediterranean charm meets a genuine warmth. Nestled on Carrer del Port, this unassuming spot invites you into a pace that is neither hurried nor stagnant, but simply unpretentious and welcoming—a place where you can settle in, breathe a little, and savor the moment.
The atmosphere carries a softly familiar hum: the clinking of glasses, gentle conversation looping between tables, and a carefully chosen soundtrack that weaves effortlessly into the background. It’s the kind of environment where neighbors and travelers alike feel comfortably at home, enjoying a meal that reflects the coastal spirit without rushing through it.
Here, the food is a quiet celebration of Mediterranean flavors, offering more than just nourishment—it’s an invitation to share, to explore tastes that speak of the sea and sun-soaked lands. Imagine a mix of tender, perfectly fried calamari alongside subtle bursts of salt from anchovies caught locally, or the satisfying crunch of patatas bravas softened by rich sauces. Dishes come with an unpretentious flair, comforted by a balance of familiar and surprising, each bite revealing parts of the region’s culinary story.
The drinks, especially when enjoyed against the gentle light of a fading day, add another layer to this experience—there’s a lightness in sipping a well-crafted sangria or an Aperol, as laughter drifts softly across the room and the sea breeze finds its way through open windows.
More than the food and drink, though, it is the people who make the moment—attentive without intruding, friendly but never forced, creating a flow that lets guests feel truly seen and cared for. There is an understated generosity here, a willingness to accommodate and connect that turns a simple meal into a shared memory. For anyone seeking a space where the local pulse beats steady and true, Restaurant 1869 offers a thoughtfully crafted pause in the day.

Very nice restaurant with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The tapas were absolutely delicious, especially the anchoas fritas, which I highly recommend. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Special thanks for the great music playlist and the perfectly made Aperol
